Tamima Brasil
The Brazilian musician and luthier Tamima Brasil was born in Salvador, the capital city of Bahia state. She started her music carreer as drummer and percussionist in 1989 at the age of 11. In 2002, Tamima moved to São Paulo city and established her Tambourine Workshop, preparing and restoring percussion instruments, with special attention to tambourines.
Currently Living in Salvador, Tamima is the music director, drummer and percussionist of ‘Itapuã Beat’ as well as the creator and director of the ‘Itapuã Tambourine Orchestra’ (Orquestra de Pandeiros Itapuã), which is funded by the Project Conexão Vivo through the Brazilian Arts Consul.
Her music career includes works with Brazilian top artists such as Cassia Eller, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Elza Soares, Tom Zé, Ana Carolina, Naná Vasconcelos, Nando Reis, the Rapper Xis, Naçao Zumbi, Riachão, Dona Ivone Lara, Carlinhos Brown, Baby Brazil, Virginia Rodrigues, Lucas Santana, Marcia Castro, among others.
